The reality in the UK is stark and heart breaking: 1 in 3 children are growing up on incomes below the poverty line after housing costs that’s more than 4.5 million children. In the past year alone, around 800,000 children have been in households forced to use a food bank.

Hunger isn’t just missing a meal. It’s a child unable to concentrate at school, a teenager too embarrassed to go out for lunch with friends, a parent feeling they’ve failed despite trying their best. Regular, nutritious meals are vital for growth, health, learning, and hope.

At Wooden Spoon, we believe every child deserves the chance to thrive. That’s why, in partnership with our incredible corporate supporter Young’s Pubs we pledge to donate £100,000 to Pass the Plate initiatives that:

·       Provide daily nutritious meals or snacks to children in need

·       Deliver holiday and weekend food programmes to ensure no child misses out when school is closed

·       Work with schools, community groups, and food banks to combine healthy food with education

Together, we can imagine a future where no child goes to bed hungry, and families never have to choose between heating their home and putting food on the table.
